About Dr. Michael Larsen, MD

Dr Larsen was born in Ohio and then soon moved abroad with his family to areas such as Central Africa, Burma, and Russia, where he both gained a great love for diversity as well as began to develop a desire to work with under-served populations. He also spent many formative years in Southwestern Utah and obtained his associates degree at Dixie College. Dr. Larsen then went on to acquire an undergraduate degree in biology from Brigham Young University. He returned to Ohio to attend The Ohio State University College of Medicine where he received his medical education. He gained further education in health administration and global health as he completed a Master of Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Larsen then completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center. While training there he became interested both in hand/upper extremity surgery and nerve surgery, as he trained with experts in targeted muscle re-innervation, migraine surgery, and thoracic outlet syndrome. He went on to complete a Hand, Nerve, and Microsurgery fellowship at Washington University of St. Louis, where he trained with renowned experts in both hand and nerve surgery. Dr. Larsen has been recognized as an outstanding scholar and physician through awards such as receiving the OSUMC Outstanding Academic Merit Scholarship, being inducted into the Gold Humanism honor society, and receiving a grant to improve medical education in Kenya. Dr. Larsen is now board-eligible in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is excited to be back home in the Southwest.
